    Peter Stampfel and the Atomic Meta-Pagans Jul 29

    Peter Stampfel first came to prominence in 1964, as the singing, banjoist-fiddler co-founder of the Holy Modal Rounders, who were in turn the backing band of the Fugs at the time of their 1965 debut. These alone would have secured his place in history as a founder of Freak Folk.  But Peter has never stopped playing or innovating.  This show will feature a largely new repertoire, including the debut of a batch of songs featuring the wisdom of the Stoics. 

    The Atomic Meta-Pagans are Peter Stampfel (electric uke, fiddle, banjo, lead vocals), Sam Werbalowsky (lap steel), Eli Hekto (bass), Steve Espinola (piano), Heather Wagner (drums), and Zoe Stampfel (vocals and percussion). 

    Steve and Sam will play a short set that may surprise even themselves, between two full sets by the Meta-Pagans.
