Over the course of the last decade, Brooklyn native Adam O’Farrill (b. 1994), has cemented himself as one of the most in-demand trumpet players on the international contemporary jazz scene, and is widely recognized as a “rising star as a player and composer” (PopMatters) and “a blazing young trumpet talent” (The New York Times). Adam has been featured with the likes of Hiromi, Mary Halvorson, Vijay Iyer, Anna Webber, Tyshawn Sorey, Mulatu Astatke, Son Lux, Samora Pinderhughes, Rudresh Mahanthappa, and Photay, and has garnered widespread acclaim as a leader in his own right.
Formed in early 2023 the Allan Mednard Trio—led by Allan Mednard (drums), Carmen Quill (bass), and Santiago Leibson (piano) have steadily been developing their language of improvised music. We aim to honor the traditions of the American Songbook as well as new original works and of our peers. The music we present is a celebration of life, as each time we get on the bandstand it’s a shared moment of gratitude and blessings—from the past, present, and unknown
