Spanish Fly is slide guitar wizard David Tronzo, Tuba genius Marcus Rojas and omnivorous trumpeter/arranger Steven Bernstein. They have been playing music together since 1989. The group was formed on 8th avenue somewhere between 39th st and 58 st. A blend of rhythmic grooves, soundscapes, Ellingtonia and Americana, Spanish Fly has been playing beyond genre before there was a genre called beyond genre.
There is also an 80% chance that Hal Willner will be part of the evening’s festivities. Hal produced Spanish Fly’s 1st CD “Rags To Britches”. He may read poetry, present puppetry, or create sonic soundscapes. Or he may not.
