  Maud Nadal of Halo Maud comes from Auvergne, where her family of self-taught musicians led her to discover the alto violin and the guitar. In Paris, she grew up to the Anglo-Saxon sounds of PJ Harvey and Cat Power, which inspired her Myra Lee project. While her first instinct was to write in English, the multi-instrumentalist laster discovered she wasn’t indifferent to the work of songwriters like Dominique A, Brigitte Fontaine and many others.  By the time she formed Halo Maud at the end of 2014, she had penned her first French song, “Dans la nuit”. Writing without worrying about language, and often combining both, Maud, with help from producer Robin Leduc, developed a sound at once hazy and breezy, hypnotic and reverberant.  Halo Maud signed last fall with prestigious London label Heavenly (Saint Etienne, Temples, Baxter Dury, Toy).
