Charlotte’s musical expression washes over you like waves, and she has been riding those waves for as long as she can remember. Inspired by her travels, from Nepal to Lithuania, throughout Africa and combined with her Northern European roots, Charlotte’s songwriting is eccentric as she merges experimental and abstract qualities with pop elements. She lets strands of Eastern classical, Scandinavian sound, and Intelligent Dance Music leap in, resulting in innovative songs perfect for her acrobatic and beautiful voice.
Her art pop projects include top notch musicians and producers from the worlds of improvised music, synth pop, contemporary classical music, EDM, dance and video.
In her newest EP, Fishtale – out May 31, 2019 and recorded in Brooklyn – she combines her quirkiness with more familiar song formats that best describe this collection as avant pop.
Her designs for these songs began in her bedroom, where she shapes sounds using the instrument of her voice as the primary source of textural samples and loops, fusing this with an electronic synth palette. She then joined forces with producer and engineer Zubin Hensler, who has collaborated with Half Waif, the Westerlies and Hannah Epperson

    HANNAH EPPERSON

Hannah has been touring Europe solo for the past three years and those who have accompanied her have experienced more than a few adventures. Every single one of her concerts and festivals has its unique moments and singular stories. With her violin, loop pedal, bass synth and voice, Hannah has the ability to get lost in her own sonic worlds without ever leaving her audience behind.

Fittingly, her albums Upsweep (2016) and Slowdown (2018) are not conceptualized as a mere succession of individual songs: There are two distinct versions of each piece – one reduced and minimalist (Iris), the other a crystal clear pop interpretation (Amelia). Iris and Amelia stand in clear contrast with each other. The lyrics transport that oscillation between the two characters and merge the real and the surreal, the finite and the infinite. In both versions, Epperson, the Canadian with a US passport, creates a unique soundscape. Assigning a genre is thus a rather difficult task. Conceptionally, however, Hannah Epperson can certainly be called an avant-garde pop artist. Her individuality and restlessness are always met with a profound political and social consciousness. Considering her artistic engagement with images and political issues, Epperson joins ranks with the feminist pop giants of our time.

Born in Salt Lake City and raised in Vancouver – Hannah Epperson is a traveler between worlds, both in an artistic and in a biographical sense. So it comes as no surprise that she now calls the melting pot New York City her home. Hannah draws her inspiration from her travels as well as from frequent collaborations with other musicians and artists from New York. All of these impressions and inspirations come together to form her very unique and refreshing repertoire.

    RELATIVES
    https://relatives.bandcamp.com/

Relatives – Ian Davis and Katie Vogel – met upon arrival to New York City in 2007 and have been singing and writing together since. Now based out of NYC and Providence, we play shows regularly in both cities. Over the years, we have been paring down and turning inwards, exploring what can be done with less.
